This collection includes a selection of material from the Daniel Sutherland Anthony Papers. Born in Pennsylvania, Anthony worked for the Newark Human Rights Commission from 1953-1963 (also called the Commission on Group Relations or Human Relations). The Commission was founded by Mayor Leo Carlin in 1953. The Commission worked on training, education, and legal activities to work against racial discrimination and foster understanding between groups.
