View from the Hudson County side of the Passaic River facing Newark. This is one of the earliest views of this type and shows the railroad crossing of the New Jersey Railroad, later the Pennsylvania, and now Amtrak. Important landmarks include the Old First Church, the Boudinot Mansion at Military Park, and the Plume House on Broad Street facing east, and the Passaic River. In the upper right is one of the early Bridge Street bridges which connected Newark with New York to the east and Philadelphia to the west.
